Modern Rustic Office Remodel
PROJECT CONCEPT
This office remodel was an opportunity to rethink how a workplace functions day to day while giving it a strong, intentional identity. Located in Thurston County, the project focused on creating a professional environment that supports productivity, comfort, and longevity—while reflecting the personality of the owner. As an interior designer in Olympia, WA, our role extended beyond finishes to the thoughtful design of every workspace throughout the office.
From the beginning, this project was about custom solutions. Every workspace—from reception to project managers, the office manager, and ownership—was designed individually to support how each role functions. Even support spaces like the kitchenette, restroom, and copy room were approached with the same level of care, ensuring the entire office worked cohesively rather than feeling pieced together.
- Custom-designed reception desk, back counter, bar, and owner’s office, all created specifically for this space.
- Powered sit-to-stand desktops at both the reception and owner’s desks, with adjustable heights and moving back panels that conceal cords and connections.
- Modern rustic kitchenette and breakroom redesign, balancing durability with warmth and visual interest.
Material selections were chosen for performance in a commercial setting without losing character. Commercial-grade luxury vinyl plank flooring anchors the entry, kitchenette, breakroom, and restroom, while carpet tile provides comfort and acoustic control throughout the remainder of the office. Quartz countertops pair with custom-designed, built high-pressure laminate casework, and Waypoint cabinetry grounds the kitchenette and breakroom with clean lines and lasting durability.
Conclusion
The design inspiration came from two unexpected but meaningful sources: personal décor elements in the owner’s office including a shotgun and a deer, plus the owners love of traveling to Red Rocks for concerts. These influences guided the modern rustic direction—blending warm, earthy tones with refined lodge-style elements to create a space that feels both professional and personal.
