Graceful Organic Retreat
This bathroom remodel was designed with both present-day comfort and long-term livability in mind. Located in Thurston County, the project focused on creating a space that feels elevated and welcoming while quietly supporting aging in place. As an interior designer in Olympia, WA, our goal was to prove that accessibility can be integrated seamlessly—without sacrificing beauty or comfort.
PROJECT CONCEPT
From the start, this project was about thoughtful planning. The existing bathroom felt tight and dated, with heavy beige tones and oak finishes that limited both function and flow. By reworking the layout and focusing on ease of movement, we were able to create a space that feels open, intuitive, and adaptable—designed to support the client now and well into the future.
- Walnut cabinetry that adds warmth and visual depth while remaining timeless.
- Fully heated tile floors, extending seamlessly into the shower for consistent comfort.
- Discreet aging-in-place features, including softly curved grab bars, a perfectly positioned bench seat, and an adjustable handheld shower designed for ease of use.
Finishes were selected to balance warmth, durability, and refinement. Walnut cabinetry from Kitchen Design Center Ltd and Canyon Creek Cabinets pairs with quartz countertops and a matching quartz shower bench by Stratus Quartz. Kohler Anthem fixtures in matte black add contrast, while custom Olivia tile from Surface Arts SODO introduces texture and movement. Power-lit mirrors by Craftmade provide both function and clarity without visual clutter.
What was once a cramped, outdated bathroom is now a calm, accessible retreat that feels intentional in every detail. The space supports ease of use while still feeling luxurious and personal—a reminder that good design can evolve alongside the people who live in it. Projects like this reflect our approach to interior design in Olympia and throughout Thurston County: thoughtful, practical spaces that are designed to be lived in comfortably for years to come.
